What Is Process Piping?

What Is Equipment Installation?
Equipment installation refers to the placement, anchoring, alignment, and mechanical setup of tools and facility systems. This includes both process tools and facility equipment such as air handlers or scrubbers. Depending on the contractor, it may also extend to unloading and vibration isolation.
Equipment installation includes:
Rigging and transporting equipment into the fab
Leveling, aligning, and anchoring
Installing structural mounts and seismic bracing
Assembling modular tool sections
Coordinating with OEMs for placement precision
Equipment installation prepares the tool or system to be hooked up, but does not include utility connections or system testing.
How the Three Scopes Fit Together
The three run in sequence: process piping builds the network, equipment installation sets the tool, and tool hookup connects the two. The handoffs between them are where scheduling conflicts and rework typically originate.
Two interfaces matter most. Process piping has to leave stub-outs where hookup expects them and at the specification hookup requires. And equipment installation has to set the tool before hookup can begin, which means rigging schedules and hookup crew mobilization have to line up.
