Safety Coordinator

Position Summary

The safety coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of on-site safety programs to help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong culture of safety. This role provides hands-on safety support, guidance, and assistance to employees and management across construction, manufacturing, and equipment related activities. 

The safety coordinator must provide clear guidance on how, when, and why safety expectations must be met, assist in correcting unsafe behaviors when necessary, and proactively communicate positive safety performance to both workers and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regularly review active work areas to verify safe work practices and identify potential hazards before incidents occur

  • Assist with evaluating tasks and work processes to anticipate risk and apply practical controls that reduce exposure to injury or damage

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of site-specific safety programs that meet OSHA and other regulatory requirements

  • Assist with coordinating and maintaining oversight of required permits and authorizations for certain work activities

  • Support onboarding safety orientations and provide ongoing safety guidance to employees

  • Observe job activities to confirm correct PPE usage and safe execution of work procedures

  • Act as a safety resource during equipment installation, maintenance, and general facility operations

  • Assist with the review of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to determine contributing factors and corrective measures

  • Track and maintain safety-related records, including training logs, inspection findings, corrective actions, and audit documentation

  • Participate in internal safety reviews, site walkthroughs, and evaluations to identify improvement opportunities

  • Communicate safety expectations clearly to employees and escalate concerns to leadership when necessary

  • Encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives and promote accountability at all levels of the organization

  • Support the safety team to ensure consistent implementation of safety expectations across the site

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations

  • Experience supporting safety efforts in an industrial or construction-related environment

  • OSHA 30 certification

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels

  • Capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks, and responding effectively in dynamic environments

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Bilingual in English and Korean or English and Spanish

  • OSHA 500 certification

  • Prior experience supporting safety efforts in construction, manufacturing, or technical facilities

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is primarily based indoors but requires frequent presence in active work areas. 

Physical Capabilities:

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing administrative duties

  • Regular movement including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and handle tools or safety devices as needed

  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 lbs. on an occasional basis

Sensory Requirements:

  • Adequate vision, hearing, and tactile ability to safely perform inspections and assess working conditions

  • Visual capabilities must include color recognition, depth perception, peripheral awareness, and focus adjustment
